Renewable Energy Certificates

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)

A Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) represents the environmental attributes of one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity generated from a renewable source, such as solar PV.

How RECs Work

The Basics of RECs

01

One REC, One MWh

Each certificate corresponds to one megawatt-hour of electricity generated from a renewable source.

02

Tracked by a Registry

Each REC carries a unique reference from the registry that issues it, and is retired once its holder claims it, so it cannot be counted twice.

03

Used in Sustainability Reporting

Companies use RECs to support renewable-electricity claims in sustainability and ESG reporting.

REC Support

RECs with Amiya Energy

Amiya Energy helps owners of eligible solar PV projects assess their eligibility for Renewable Energy Certificates and facilitates the documentation and registry process.

This service is intended for commercial and industrial solar PV system owners in Malaysia, especially existing Amiya Energy customers.

Amiya Energy does not issue RECs. Certificates and their references are issued by the applicable registry, and eligibility and issuance depend on that registry’s requirements.

How It Works

The REC Eligibility Process

STEP 01

Submit Your Project Details

Send us your solar PV project and generation details using the eligibility form below.

STEP 02

Eligibility Review

Amiya Energy reviews the project’s eligibility and supporting records.

STEP 03

Registry Coordination

Amiya Energy coordinates the documentation and registration process with the applicable registry or an authorised partner.

STEP 04

Certificate Issued by the Registry

If the project is approved, the registry assigns the certificate reference and you receive the verified certificate.

Eligibility and certificate issuance depend on the applicable registry’s requirements. Approval is decided by the registry, not by Amiya Energy.
